Michelberger Hotel is a former-factory stay on Warschauer Straße in Friedrichshain, opposite the station and built for people who would rather arrive somewhere with a calendar than disappear into a carpeted corridor. Its room guide lists seven formats, from Cosy to Big One; the useful distinction is not luxury versus basic, but how much room your particular trip needs.

A hotel that keeps the lights on

Time Out’s April 2026 review puts the hotel in a former factory operating since 2009 and describes a courtyard that hosts food, wine and music in warm weather. The current programme still supports that read: Forest Cinema appears on the hotel’s calendar, and PEOPLE Festival returns on 10 and 11 October 2026. That is useful context for booking, not a promise that every night will feel the same.

The restaurant and café/bar make this a plausible place to meet someone even if nobody is sleeping upstairs. A recent Condé Nast Traveler review notes the seasonal restaurant and café that becomes a wine bar; the hotel’s own help pages say the surrounding Friedrichshain streets are lively in the evening. Book another address if silence is the central requirement. Book this one if an active base, a short walk from east-side nightlife and an occasional courtyard event sounds useful.

The building is near an area where culture remains materially fragile: RAW-Gelände venues have only a temporary two-year lease. That makes a hotel that keeps a public programme more interesting than a design story by itself. For a different Berlin night, SO36 in Kreuzberg is the stronger destination.
