Parrots Pub

There is a corner in Sitges where the terrace tables face outward at the square instead of inward at the bar, and the entire evening's traffic funnels past them. Parrots has held that corner for over thirty years.

The geography is the whole product. Plaça de la Indústria sits at the top of Carrer de Joan Tarrida, which runs into Carrer del Marquès de Montroig — locally, and not affectionately, Carrer del Pecat. misterb&b lists twenty-four gay bars and clubs in Sitges, and you can walk the dense part of that end to end in about five minutes. Parrots is the wide end of the funnel.

A bar that is also a small empire

Parrots is not just a pub. The group behind it runs the Parrots Sitges Hotel, Central Bar and Le Patio, with Bears Bar, El Palco and the Runway Terrace Bar in its orbit — and it was a founding member of AFGAL, the association responsible for Sitges Pride. That is a genuinely unusual position for a bar: it is a venue, a landlord and a piece of the town's queer civic infrastructure at the same time.

Which is worth saying plainly rather than admiringly. A single group holding this much of a small strip is the sort of concentration that flattens a scene elsewhere, and Sitges has stayed varied largely because there are so many operators packed into so few streets. Parrots is the anchor; it is not the interesting end of the strip, and it does not pretend to be.

The hours are seasonal, whatever the listings say

The room was recently knocked through with the old Mojito & Co next door, so the bar and terrace now read as one space rather than two.

Now the caveat that actually matters. Listings disagree about the hours. The Gay Sitges Guide has the pub opening at 8:30am for breakfast with the terrace from 5pm, and — the important part — gives the season as March to October plus Carnival. Other guides print 11am to 3am daily with no seasonal note at all. Sitges is a resort town and a good half of it shuts for the winter, so treat the year-round listings as optimistic and check before you plan a January trip around this corner.

Don't miss the shift at around five. The terrace opening is the moment the square turns over from beach traffic to going-out traffic, and the hour before it is the only time you'll get a front table without waiting.

Three dates worth aiming at. Bears Week runs 4 to 13 September 2026, with the Bear Village on the seafront at the foot of Carrer Bonaire from the 7th; The Gay Passport calls this corner the week's kick-off venue, which matches where the traffic actually goes. The film festival follows from 8 to 18 October 2026 and fills the square with a completely different crowd. Then Carnival, which the town's carnival guides currently place at 20 February to 2 March 2027 — the Ajuntament confirms exact dates each autumn, so check before booking anything on the strength of that.

Two walks from this corner, both about ten minutes and both worth doing before the terrace fills: uphill to Casino Prado, the society hall that started the festival in 1968, or downhill to the seafront and the pink triangle on the Passeig Marítim, which is the part of this town's queer history the strip does not tell you about.
