Skylight Books
A Los Feliz indie bookstore whose Arts Annex of zines and art books outgrows a side room.

Reasons to check it out
- Open since November 1, 1996, a few blocks from the Sunset/Vermont Metro station
- Its Arts Annex next door runs a serious standalone zine and art-book collection, not a token shelf
- Opened a second location in Eagle Rock in 2026 while keeping this one as the flagship
- 4.7 stars across 954 Google reviews, with staff recommendations named specifically and repeatedly
βPlenty of indie bookstores bolt on an art-book corner for the photos. The Annex here reads like its own shop that happens to share a wall.β
β STEFAN
Skylight Books has been on N. Vermont Avenue since November 1, 1996, a few blocks from the Sunset/Vermont Metro station and right next to the Los Feliz 3 cinema. It grew enough by 2026 that it opened a second location in Eagle Rock β while keeping this store as the flagship, not folding it into a rebrand.
The Annex is the actual draw
Next door, the Arts Annex runs a real zine and art-book collection rather than a token display case β reviewers consistently call it out by name over the main store. One visitor, two months before this writing, singled out "so many amazing art books" and the zine selection specifically, on top of staff recommendations they called reliably good.

Google's 954 reviews put it at 4.7 stars. Multiple recent reviewers describe it as small but tightly curated rather than exhaustive β a point in its favor for browsing, a limitation if you're after a specific obscure title. A monthly book club, Coyotes Book Club, meets on the fourth Tuesday; check current listings before planning around it.
