The Pilgrm opened in November 2017 in a cluster of Victorian buildings a minute's walk from Paddington station, restored with the kind of specificity that makes a hotel worth naming rather than just booking: 50 layers of paint stripped from a cast-iron balustrade, 300 man-hours on the wooden staircase alone, guest-room floors laid with 200-year-old reclaimed parquet pulled from old schools and military buildings.
The stripped-back concept is deliberate, not budget: no minibar (a 24-hour communal pantry instead), no robes, no air-conditioning — electric fans, as a stated sustainability position — and check-in happens at a café counter rather than a reception desk. That same restraint is what Tripadvisor reviewers push back on hardest: recurring complaints about genuinely tiny rooms, street noise through single-glazed sash windows, and no in-room kettle. Both things are true — this is a hotel that made a coherent design choice, and some guests would rather have had the minibar.
Rooms run from around £69 for the smallest "Bunk" category up to roughly £171 on average across room types, per momondo's aggregated pricing; a same-week sample booking for one night, two guests, checked directly on the hotel's own listing, priced at a comparable mid-range rate — book-specific dates always, since a boutique hotel this size swings with demand more than a chain would.
